Water confidence
-
Learning pace
This creates a fun and encouraging environment while ensuring each child continues progressing every week.

The SwimStephy Approach
Learn to Feel the Water, Not Just Move Through It
Before starting SwimStephy, I gained hands-on experience through attachments and working with established swimming schools and mentors. Through these experiences, I was able to work with students of different ages and abilities and learn from different teaching approaches.
Over time, I developed my own way of teaching. One that focuses on helping students understand their own body and feel comfortable in the water.
My Approach to Learning
I believe that water confidence, breathing and body control should come before swimming longer distances.
My aim is to first help the student learn how to:
-
Breathe comfortably in the water
-
Stay relaxed instead of panicking
-
Understand how their body moves and balances
-
Float and recover to a standing position
-
Develop a natural feel for the water
Only when these foundations become more comfortable do we gradually work towards longer distances, continuous kicking and proper stroke technique.
Minimal Flotation Aids
Where appropriate, I use minimal flotation aids so students can gradually learn to balance, move and support themselves in the water.
Rather than becoming dependent on flotation aids, students are encouraged to understand how their own body position, breathing and movements affect their swimming.
Small Class Size, Full Attention
With small class sizes, and 1-to-1 lessons where applicable, I can give each student closer attention and adjust the lesson according to their ability, confidence and learning pace.
I can focus on the small details that matter, from breathing and body position to coordination and stroke technique.
The SwimStephy Goal
My goal is not simply to teach a student to swim a certain distance.
It is to help them become comfortable, confident and independent in the water.
Every student learns differently, so there is no need to rush. We build the skills step by step, starting with the foundations and progressing towards confident, efficient swimming.
PROGRESS TRACKING

Video Analysis for Real Progress
At SwimStephy, we use professional video analysis to help children visualize their technique. By seeing themselves in action, kids can better understand and correct their movements, leading to faster improvement and greater water confidence. Parents receive regular video updates, providing complete peace of mind and a clear record of their child's swimming journey and milestones achieved.
